Mat Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Pilates is described as a Mind-body exercise. The "art" of controlled movements & breathe should get you feeling strong and stabilized.With consistent practice these small movements paired with time under tension & sometimes added weight, help to build flexibility, strength, control, & endurance in the entire body. There is a lot of emphasis on the core, consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, low back, & hips, often called the "powerhouse".
This class is beginner friendly and each movement can be modified as needed or advanced as desired. Breaks are given and each class begins with a warm up and cool down.
